Mission Community Hospital’s New Contract with Anthem Blue Cross of California Promises to Sustain and Elevate the Quality of Health Care Provided to San Fernando Valley Residents

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, CA (October 08, 2012) — Continuing its tradition of commitment to improve access to medical care to the residents of San Fernando Valley and surrounding communities, Mission Community Hospital (“MCH”) has announced a new three year agreement with Anthem Blue Cross of California, the largest health plan in the area.

Recognizing the inevitable transformation of the health care system, Mission Community Hospital approached Anthem Blue Cross as a vested partner in the delivery of health care. By partnering up with Mission Community Hospital, Anthem Blue Cross enrollees may access the many of Mission Community Hospital’s clinically innovative and strategic successes. The new contract enables Anthem Blue Cross’s beneficiaries to take full advantage of the complete range of services that are available at Mission Community Hospital including specialty services provided at The Institute for Advanced Robotic Surgery as well as Center of Excellence for Spine & Orthopedic Surgeries at Mission Community Hospital.

“We would like to take this opportunity to give special thanks to Ms. Pearl Saavedra and her support staff at the Provider Contracting Department of Anthem Blue Cross for their steadfast support of this facility as without the revised rates, residents of the local communities would have to travel far to benefit from the same advanced technologies that are available today at MCH such as the dual-monitored DaVinci Robotic Surgical System, the only one of it’s kind available in San Fernando Valley,” said Jack Lahidjani, president, Mission Community Hospital and CEO, Deanco Healthcare, LLC, the management company for the hospital.

As the largest healthcare plan in California, Anthem Blue Cross serves a proportionately large number of beneficiaries in Mission Community Hospital’s geographic service area. The renewed partnership serves as a natural and necessary pledge to meet the tremendous challenges of health care access, resource and delivery to our local community, added Lahidjani.

“Together, the renewed partnership between Mission Community Hospital and Anthem Blue Cross will expand our reach to help more residents and make health care in Los Angeles County more accessible and valuable to all residents of San Fernando Valley,” he said.
