Welcome to the

PSYCHIATRY
RESIDENCY PROGRAM

Welcome

Message from our Program Director

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Mission Community Department of Psychiatry website. Our psychiatry residency program is a community-based program with focus on integration of general medicine to provide comprehensive training to graduate well rounded and fully competent physician psychiatrists that can practice in a variety of clinical settings.

Please explore our website and encourage you to look at the history of MCH and the service it has provided to the surrounding communities over the years. To date, we have made enhancements to currently existing programs and in the process of developing new ones not only to accommodate the needs of the community but also to allow the residents the necessary clinical settings to learn and provide care. Our goal is to ensure that all residents who go through our program will be best equipped to satisfy patient care needs and to further the psychiatric field upon graduation by way of research, medical specialty collaboration and medical administration to mention a few. The program also can accommodate each resident’s interests later in their training by way of elective rotations.

Those who are accepted to the program will be directly supervised by dedicated faculty that have proven expertise in their chosen fields of interests. Didactics are scheduled weekly with our core faculty and further complemented by adjunct faculty who will lecture on other relevant topics. Our program is set up in a manner to achieve the best learning outcomes driven by the understanding that education is first and foremost, with resident caseloads commensurate with the level of training. We look forward to your consideration of our program as we feel that Mission Community Hospital psychiatry residency program will provide you with the skills you will need in this rapidly expanding field of medicine.
