Employee Health Nurse

Job Description:

Currently, we seek an Employee Health Nurse.  Under the direction of the Director of Infection Control & Employee Health, the full-time Employee Health Nurse performs duties as assigned based on the needs and resources of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

At the direction of and prioritization by the Director of Infection Control & Employee Health, performs and/or assists with the following department activities:

  1. Provides tuberculosis screenings, N95 respirator and/or PAPR (powered air purifying respirator) fit testing and vaccinations for employees, contractors, physicians and others approved by the hospital
  2. Communicates and coordinates with the Human Resources department about completion of the above tasks, as-needed
  3. Tracks and communicates compliance with vaccination or declination requirements, reporting compliance data with with staff members’ department leaders and Human Resources
  4. Records compliance with influenza vaccination or declination requirements within the NHSN (National Healthcare Safety Network) within required timeframes
  5. Participates in PPE (personal protective equipment) management, which may include distribution, collection, disinfection, tracking and education activities
  6. Coordinates above activities when completed or assisted by other staff or contract workers
  7. Educates employees on topics related to injury/infection prevention (e.g. PPE, Donning/Doffing, Handwashing, Sharps safety etc.)
  8. Coordinates or assists with employee safety or injury prevention events
  9. Participates in operation of safe patient handling program, such as safe patient lifting and management of assaultive behavior education and/or reinforcement, as-needed
  10. Cross-trains for the Infection Prevention Nurse role and provides backup and support as-needed

Qualifications:

  1. Current California nursing license
  2. BLS (basic life support), obtained from a hospital-approved provider
  3. Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  4. Computer skilled with experience using Microsoft Office software at an intermediate level
